Rich, I cropped it a bit although not on the left side where the plane was heading as I knew I needed space there. Yeah, the noise shows up here, and I think some of it is compression-related as I don't see it as much on the original. It looks really bad today - yesterday it wasn't as noticeable. Does that make sense? The sky was initially blue but I thought the darker color was more dramatic.

I was absolutely new to the whole DSLR thing and keen to shoot anything that moved, as I had only owned the lens for a few days. My husband was in the hospital and I stood in the parking lot and took this. It seemed appropriate for this theme so I played with it after the fact.

Did you crop this too? PP has brought out the noise in the image but what makes it, is the bright sun lit side of the plane.
You mast have a very steady hand to shoot this at a FL of 300mm and a shutter speed just slightly faster than the FL.
