It’s strange; when I look at this I see kids doing what kids do and don’t really get any connotations of racism at all.
Endika is right, a growing problem we have in Western Europe countries is integrating newcomers and it’s often an economic issue rather than one of race, buts that’s generalising of course.

I'm sad because I've to say that the racism IS also a problem in Spain, and it's a true challenge for us to integrate all the people coming from another countries and cultures. endika

I still keep coming back to this. What a shot! I am glad the racism thing is something coming from our culture and not yours - it somehow makes it seem like the attempts at resolution might bear fruit and not be just inherent in our makeup. Thanks for your explanation Endika.

I fell just as others. fortunately I can only read about this racism thing. We haven't it here, but nacionalizam is present, and I don't like it. All people are good enough, if they act like a human being, and do nothing to harm the others.

Sad affair indeed.
I think that the white girl was trying to contact this group of friends, although she have chosen an agressive way to do it. In fact, it was a kind of game, and the black children were telling once and again "come on, loose the dog", an they had a lot of fun.
BTW: the white girl most probably was an Amazigh of the North Morocco, and not a Spanish one. I don't know how good are the relations between Muslim cultures of North Africa and these of the West Africa.
The very best of all is that, due to so many different origins, all these girls used the same lenguage to talk together: the Catalan; this is the next generation of Catalan people, it's ok for me. endika

The older children aren't even looking at the dog, only at the girl who maybe scares them worse? Things are so bad here lately that I'm even afraid to say how the picture feels to me for fear I might be judged wrongly or offend someone. Great shot Endika.

There is something about the girl's posture that suggests guiding the dog - wielding of power/ dominance. The other children make it seem like a game - kind of exciting.

Is race a big thing in your country, Endika? Here in the USA racism and prejudice has so many different undertones and comes up in such unexpected places. A black friend of mine who lived across the street and had his own painting business would talk of being always pulled over by the police or bidding on jobs and when he got to the door people would tell him that there was no painting job to be had. He finally moved somewhere else.

One of the best pictures I have ever seen Endika. It is the kind of picture that can cause people to change. brent

Excellent photo on so many levels Endika. Classic street shot but also conjures up issues of class and race. Seen that way it is rather freightening especially as theu are all children. Verypowerful image.

Really this is so good. The expressions on the kids faces are so great, everything from scared, excited and angry.
I want to know, do you know the girl with the dog and did you encourage her to let it loose? If not, your awareness and reactions to a scene unfolding are amazing.
