Yep this is a locust they are about 3 -4 inches long. It flew in and sat next to me on the bench while I was watching the sea. We sat the like Darby and Joan ( Me and the Locust) . We get swarms of these of several millions and they devastate crops.
No grasshoppers out here yet, still too chilly for them. This is a really big grasshopper huh? is that a 2x4 on a picnic table? Is this grasshopper nearly 4" long? Very nice detail CB.
