Facts about the Hardanger fiddle:
A Hardanger fiddle (or in Norwegian: hardingfele) is a traditional stringed instrument used originally to play the folk music of Norway.
In modern designs, the instruments are very similar to the violin, though with eight or nine strings (rather than four on a standard violin) and thinner wood. (se more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardingfele)
This particular item is made by my grandfather, from 1971. I remember I watched him in his atelier, he had some great moments there. He also tried to teach me to play, but I gave up after half a lesson or so.
