First Presbyterian Church - acwalbur

Cazenovia, NY

The First Presbyterian Church in Cazenovia, NY
http://tinyurl.com/crwvq6

The church was constructed in 1806, 23-years after the founding of Cazenovia, NY (in 1783). It is by far one of the oldest buildings in my village.

UPDATE: I've dug up some more history on this church - The lower three windows are due to be replaced this year (just not in time for the competition) The upper circle used to house the village clock (a hundred years ago or so), and not a window.

nice lighting from the low sun. would maybe have looked good in B&W too.

Striking w the painted out windows... reminds me of the one piece molded kits where you have to paint the details. Love the lighting!
I was wondering why I didn't remember this church from my time in the area- I took 20 often enough. But looking at the map, I realize I usually cut south on 13 to 80.

Nice light Adam. I preferred the uncorrected original : )

Great time of day to capture this, the side light has really brought out the details.
Lovely building.

Yes, they have removed all the front facing stained glass - it is simply to expensive to replace when it is damaged. I've replaced the image with a different version of the same capture, because I like this one without keystoning (sp?) better.

First, great photo of an interesting church. I find is so peculiar that the windows are boarded up and it appears as if they just used a spray gun and spray painted the entire thing white. then added on the few black hardware pieces. Even the circular opening where a nice stained glass window must have been is just painted right over. Very strange!

Very nice shot Adam! Love the lighting and the blue & white contrast.
I assume it is Presbyterian? :)
What is its history?
