Here are a few poor shots of hurricane birds seen on Pickwick Lake in Hardin Co, and the Mississippi River front at Memphis in Shelby Co, from 8-30-05 through 9-17-05. Most of these shots were taken in either foul weather or at great distances and in some cases both.
I have included some really good shots, considering the conditions and the highly active flight of one of the Band-rumped Storm-Petrels taken by Joe Guinn. More and much better photos of the Pomerine Jaeger/Skua type bird seen on the 30th and 31st will be made available as soon as possible. (Already Posted, SEE ALBUM)
Needless to say, it was an exciting and rewarding few days for me and the others lucky enough to be there at the right time. Jon Dunn said in an "e" mail, "that afternoon was some of the most exciting birding I've ever experienced anywhere."
