What a way to start a year! Mississippi's second and the first documented by photo. It stayed a few days and was seen by M.Ob. Clyde Blum and I had another Ferruginous fly by us about 5 miles south of this location about a month later, it did not appear to be the same bird.
While leading a group on Island 13 in TN, we had a Ferruginous Hawk circle overhead. I immediately yelled Ferruginous and started ticking off field marks. Field notes were recorded, a drawing was made with all observers present and the sighting documentation reviewed by Brian Wheeler for a first documented sighting for Tennessee.
