Red-necked Phalarope - sleeping -9-17-02

I caught this immature catching 40 winks. The phalarope eye mark is much bolder than on the immature Wilson's and you can see the bill is much shorter plus the golden mantle stripes show well. There is usually a slight blush of color at the sides of the breast, similar to that seen on immature Semipalmated Sandpipers.
