Harlans Hawk - light morph

Here you can see the bird's markings are more brownish black rather than the typical warm brown. The dark streaked crown, white supercilium and blackish malar mark give this bird a regal look, and are some of the ID points for this rare morph of the Harlan's. There was very little streaking on this bird's lower belly but this is highly variable. We get a bunch of dark morph western and quite a few dark Harlan's but I've seen less than a handful of the Light Harlan's over the years. It has been very difficult to get near them for photos. This bird also had white marks on the mid scapulars which is typical on this morph.
