This is a typical line up of normal Eurasian Collared-Doves on President's Island, Memphis, TN. The birds feed on corn being transported to be processed at a sucrose plant and wheat-rice-soybeans at other grain storage facilities. I have counted over 600 ECDO in the area and I'd say a careful counting could push 1,000 birds (now over 3,000 have been counted at one location on the island). In Memphis the total count at the numerous locations this species has been seen has surpassed 2,000 birds. Morning Doves are just as numerous but keep a low profile at this site, most MODO usually feed in other nearby locations on the island but there are always MODO feeding in with the much larger ECDO. When MODO are feeding with the ECDO, they are pretty well bullied about but there is more than enough feed for everyone. I have seen ECDO coming into such a congregation, pick on a Morning Dove perched on the wire, land on its back forcing it to relinquish its perch.
