Neotropic Cormorant on left & possible hybrid on right

This photo of two small cormorants is a composite of two photos taken while these two birds were standing about 50 feet apart below the Salt Plains Dam (see next photo for actual comparison of distance between the two birds). Note pale skin that completely surrounds the eye and yellowish color behind and below the eye, but the coloration of the gular pouch and bill is not nearly as bright as double-crested. Small size. Also the tail seems short for neotropic. The shape of the gular pouch seems more staight down versus the V shaped of neotropic. The possible hybrid is also paler on the underside than the neotropic and appears to have a more mottled look to the undersides than the brownish coloration the neotropic.
