Geastrum coronatum (Crowned Earthstar)
A Red Data List species. In Notts the NFG has found it twice at Barrow Hills near Everton, so this Worksop site is only a 2nd site for it in the county. It is characterised by the fimbriate (rather ragged and torn here) opening at the top of the spherical structure; by a distinct uncollared neck; and by the outer layer turning outwards and downwards into as many as 12 ‘rays’ as in this specimen (only 4 or 5 rays visible here); and by the spore size and decoration.
