A medium-large uncommon Agaricus, most frequently found in sand at the coast & in dunes in southern England; but may occur, as here, on sandy soils inland. Characterised by fibrous appressed scales concolorous with the cap and cuticle overhanging the cap margins; finely scaly below ring; gills pale then quite bright pink, finally dark brown. No particular smell. Separated only microscopically from some Common Field Mushrooms & other white Agaricus spp. In the photo specimens are still young & small.
