"Noor Khan's book is so rich and varied and swashbuckling... a semi-equestrian pirate love adventure (where he clearly doesn't come off as a saint). The crazy thing about the story is, it almost seems like it was meant to happen to him, maybe because he doesn't go down the road of sensationalism - even though it's a pretty mad story, or rather it could seem like a mad story.. ok, it's got the guns and dope and woman and he's not averse to the breaking of a few taboos - but the thing that came across for me is the heart and impulse and life. And the life of Pakistan, close up and engaged. However things are, he just seems go for it head-first. Which is why, I guess, the story is such an eye-opener into Pakistan.

.... to be honest, two pages in it made me want to hop on a flight to Pakistan. And at the end, I was ready to pick up the sequel ....but to be truthful, I was happy my imagination was trying to conjure up whatever happened next.

Dear Noor Khan. Just stayed up late finishing your book. In 1982, I was drawn to Pakistan and considering Islam. I hiked up the Kaghan Valley and down through Swat with a friend. Spent time in Peshawar and Lahore, and visited Hira Mandi during its heyday. Your true and passionate book brought back some of the truth and passion of that time for me. Thank you.

I've always wanted to read more than just experiences of somebody (usually an outsider)observing Pakistan. This book is amazing. The author really got 'beneath the surface'. At first glances I though he was Pakistan he was so familer with the culture. Great story too. Lots of adventures and detaials about Pakistan, and about his continuing relationship with a courtesan. A very different scene in Pakistan, different than I'd ever imagined. So many details. Thank you Mr Noor Khan for sharing this part of your life! I wish you well, and will tell others about this wonderful book.

I read the sample chapters and looked at your amazing photos and was hooked. I got the book on Amazon. OMG-so incrdible a story. Should be a movie. So much cool stuff about Pakistan I've never seen before. Felt like I was living the life with you. It was too great. Okay, think I'll start reading it again, I don't want the story to stop. Thanks for writing and sharing this experience of Pakistan!

Mr Noor Khan. I have read every word of your 'rough' sample chapters. I an anxiously waiting to see your book. Please keep me informed when it is available. I have never read anything so honest and strong about Pakistan and it's culture. You point out it's beauty, as well as it's flaws. Reading I came to realize you are not Pakistani (or Afghan) by birth. You write as a local, and not as a forginer looking down or judging the people of Pakistan. It is so exciting to read about parts of the culture most peoples can never get deep enough to see/experience. I wish you all luck and success with your project. It is a WONDERFUL work!!!

As a shaitan-baba, I would dare to suggest that aforementioned angel, opposite of my, should join the horde of admirers and the statement which would balance the dark side with the splash of light ?
