One of the "First Four". Gordon quoted Paul $1,000 per foot is an early discussion at the B&R Club in 1977 and though it cost MUCH more, Gordon made good on this commitment . . . out of his own pocket.

Olympic participant from Canada in '64 (Flying Dutchman), '68 (Finn), '72 (Coach), and '08 (unofficial coach) Paul Henderson was a World, North American, and National Championships medalist in several classes. World class Star sailor ( race winner at '78 Worlds - 99 boats and against Blackaller, Buchan, Connor, Schoonmaker, and other 'legends' then in the class ! ) with 2 Gold Chevron honours. Also world class sailor in the Finn, Flying Dutchman, International 14, and Soling. He served 16 years as Vice-President of the International Yacht Racing Union. He was elected President of the I.Y.R.U. in London, England 1995 and, thus, later was the President of the ISAF, International Sailing Federation until 2004. Beppe Croce Trophy Winner in May, 2005. After his election as IYRU President he said, "Sailing is a participatory sport, it is run in the main by volunteers and it is environmentally friendly. I would like the sailors of the world to know that they have a friend at the IYRU. Once we have accomplished that, then we can move to do other things. If there is one single thing I have in front of me then that is it. The IYRU should be a service rather than a control organization." . His main concern has always been to shift the sport from the more expensive technical driven equipment to the more exciting tactical side of the sport focusing on the skills of the competitors.

Nonsuch sailing particularly also focuses on the skill of the individual sailor and the tactical side of the sport . . . all done in considerable comfort but with great pace.

Paul & Mary Henderson owned the fourth of the 'first four' boats. She was named BRUTAL BEAST in honour of the cat boats Paul and so many others learned to sail in at the RCYC Junior Club. Starling Burgess designed this rugged and simple sail training boat and it was widely used by many U.S and Canadian clubs for several decades.

Since he was a boy, Paul has sailed from the Royal Canadian YC in Toronto on West-Lake Ontario
