:: Qinhuangdao, China ::
I spent most of 2006 through 2009 in the city of Qinhuangdao working for an American company that was modernizing a factory there. Qinhuangdao is located on the Bohai Sea in Hebei Province, about 300 km due East of Beijing. The city has a population of around 800,000 with a metropolitan population of over 2 million. I was first there at the end of 2002. In the seven years I traveled to Qinhuangdao, I saw many changes in what is, by Chinese standards, still just a small town.
This gallery contains links to sub-galleries with pictures I took of people and places in and around the city, mainly from the latter part of my time there. They are arranged in chronological order for no real reason other than that is how I have filed them at home.
Some of the scenes are timeless, but the Western influences are becoming more and more prevalent. I found that most people really enjoyed having their picture taken. Especially the children.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Qinhuangdao through my eyes.
:: Italy 2006 ::
We celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2006 by taking a trip to Italy. We spent about four days each in Venice, Florence and Rome. Between Florence and Rome, we took in Cinque Terra, Siena and a few places in between. Open this gallery and then open one of the area-specific galleries on the next page.
