Sofia's Central Bathhouse turned into Museum of Sofia History and Thermal Healing Center

The Central Bathhouse has been designed by the Bulgarian arhitect Petko Momchilov in 1906. The hot mineral spring on the spot has been used for bathing and healing purposes. It has not been functional for some time. Now is being restored, to look on the outside same as it did, when it was built. The inside, for the most part, will be a Museum of Sofia History. A fraction of the building will be used as a Thermal Healing Center.
The mineral water has been piped out to nearby place, from where people can fill their empty bottles and other containers and take mineral water home for free.

I saw the bath in Sofia on my first visit to Bulgaria in early 1996 when the structure was in decay. During my last visit to Sofia in 2004 much had been accomplished but so far as I know the he restoration is still in progress. Some day I hope to see the inside of the bath/museum.
