These sloths are very slow moving. Unbelievably slow. They rarely leave the trees and then only once or twice every two weeks to defecate. Even in the trees they are quite vulnerable as large birds will pick them up and carry them away if they spot them. The guides said it was quite unusual to see one on the ground.
