Kristin and I spent our 2007 summer holiday in Mexico. We wanted both to enjoy some carefree time at the beach and to gain an insight into Mayan culture. So we spent one week relaxing at the Caribbean in Playa del Carmen, and another week touring numerous Mayan ruins throughout the Yucatan peninsula.

We were fortunate to have Jens Rohark ( http://www.faszination2012.de ), an expert in Mayan civilization, as our own personal tour guide for the ruins. The highlights were the stunning sites of Palenque, Uxmal and Chichen Itza. The weather was perfect, and we had a fantastic time.
