Hi Marilyn, I'm from Butte, Nebraska. Have you any shots of the Niobrara River?

Incredibly beautiful photos on your website. You are very good at photographing! But what I wonder is whether I would have got to use your photos on a website called www.minstall.no? I write so clearly that you have taken photos.

Suggest you look at Art Morris' Birds as Art and think about studying with him. Seriously. You have the knack and the eye. Think about a longer lens and a Better Beamer flash attachment. Wow. Get away from the Sigma lens, really. I shoot Canon and was warned away early. Save up for something worthy of your skill. Hugs from a fellow Midwesterner (born in Columbia, MO at Mizzou!) Ellsworth

Wonderful work. Really enjoyed wandering around in your galleries. I do lots of B&W work although only one gallery uploaded to pbase is B&W at this time. You have some nice B&W work too.
I'll keep checking back.

Dear Marilyn,

Hi! Really like your photos! Good subject matter and composition (I'm a native Nebraskan)!! I did notice that some of your more recent pictures have been taken on a D70. I have this camera and it's great--a tremendous value for the money. I also note that you are using a Sigma 28-90mm lens. Enclosed are some reviews of this lens:

http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=8&sort=7&cat=all&page=1

The more knowledgable reviewers have significant reservations about the picture quality from this lens and I suspect that your technique is so good that you are now being limited by your lens quality. There are many noticably better lenses, but they are more expensive than the Sigma which I am finding on Ebay for around $50. The Nikon 18-70mm "kit lens" is a bargain given its quality, but many other alternatives are available. You may want to look at the Nikon lens forum at dpreview to see what others are thinking about for D70 lenses:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1030

I've had similar lens experiences with a favorite 200-400 zoom lens that I replaced with a much better lens this year. I shot with my first lens for 9 years and was very happy with it until I began to critically compare my results with those obtained by others and began to realize that solid technique would only take me so far.

Keep up the wonderful work!!

RB

Hi Marilyn,

Your dad sent me your gallery address. Saw him at Rotary on Thursday; he is out and around as well as being sassy as ever.

Very interesting collection of images. Enjoyed the compostion of the closeups. With digital photography and the internet. This activity is relatively inexpensive and democratic. My digital photography focuses mainly on family and historic trails. Roland Curd and I are doing the Fort Robinson to Sheridan Gates trail now, much of it can be seen from the air and some parts are still visible at ground level.

I'll be back.
