Over the past four years this white stallion has gradually lost his harem of mares, going from a powerful top-ranking dominant male to a lonely bachelor that lives on the fringe of the herds. He can still fend off the young single males as in this image, but will be chased away without a fight when he gets too close to the mares of a herd stallion. Simply too old to win and maintain a mare, yet his powerful need to be close to other horses keeps him there.
