The scrawny old pinto stallion we call Geronimo is a very seasoned and tough stallion. Over the past four years he has shown that his small size has not proven to be a handicap. He has developed an aggressive defensive attitude and will not tolerate another male to come close to his harem.

Also, he has demonstrated an effective style of fighting: He confronts a rival and waits for him to rear up, then as the other male is high above, he goes for the throat with a powerful bite. I have witnessed him do this many times, often resulting in an bloody torn flap that would be quite painful to the other horse, and a memory that a fight with Geronimo might be wise to avoid.
