Barbara, great subject for a portrait! I would crop this differently though. I would crop tighter on the left eliminating that background area where his hair meets his shirt. And it's cropped too tight at the nose and under the chin. I don't know what you have to work with in front of his face, but if you could clone out that vertical pole thing it would be a major improvement.
