The water in the photo is the Pecos River, famous in American Old West lore. The bridge is actually a flume (aka. aqueduct) that carries water from the Pecos River and then over it for irrigation purposes. The original flume was wooden, built in the 1800s, destroyed at some point, rebuilt in 1902 out of concrete, and was the largest concrete structure in the world at that time.
