IIII by John down under

Adelaide, Australia

I flipped the original post horizontally on 16 June so that the tops and bottoms of the 'Is' slant slightly up to the right rather than down.

Claudio, I like both of your suggested titles, but I'll leave this one as it is for the moment. I'd better check out your geek link as well. :o) Cheers, John

Hi Paul,

Good one!! ,

There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't...

(which suggests me another perfect title for this image "15" or maybe "F" ... Ohh my, I'm too geek! LOL )

Geometry made by Paul Rand, that what comes to my mind. He was great, superb. The same goes for you, John.

John, don't mind all those Roman number freaks. As this is challenge 110 anyway. I can guess that you had a color effect in mind with the frame, but I wonder what would happen if you framed it more tightly and 'contrastful'. From your color expert, Paul.

nice one jdu - your attention to 'detail' often astounds me - so i have to look for some time to attempt to better appreciate your pics - (brings to mind Jim N'az also). the colours, composition, shadows, frame, texture(s) clarity, DOF... are all spot on, and all seem to be elements in this one. thanx.

Hmm, got to check that IIII thing on clocks and watches...
Lean and clean but very effective, John.

Hi John,

My comment on the number was not intended as a critique, on the contrary. Since incoungruencies are one of the things that brings interest in pictures and makes people look twice, I like to introduce them even in the small detials of the title ( as you may have noticed) . I touched on this in another comment (ie. Fred 4E ) , and I though it would be approprioate to explain it more here. You title is perfect and it matches the visual greatly! It does not matter what the old Romans did or did not do.

Every clock and watch I've ever noticed that uses 'Roman' numerals uses IIII for number 4, whereas they use VI for 6. I used to wonder why 4 is different, but now I accept it.

I started with 5 razors for this theme, but IIIII didn't seem to work like the timepiece IIII, which you see everywhere.

Nice shot John, but the first one is going to wipe this one away.

This is what I call a razor sharp interpretation of the theme. Great abstract, clever idea. Good one, John.

Ahhh! Who needs the new 4 blades, when you can stack 12 togheter.. But I'd like to see you shaving your upper lip ;-)

Very nice abstract... and good interpretation of the theme (within your own personal "Bathroom" theme). I'm already worried for Molly now...

PS I see you are also introducing little incoungruences in the title ( 4 is actually IV in roman numbers ), to spark interest and discussions. Way to go!
