ULURU Artwork by M. Scott Cole

Just around the bend from the tree in my previous entry was this example of Aboriginal Artwork representing their Dreamtime Stories. These paintings are said to be somewhere between 10,000 and 40,000 years old.

Beautiful shot! I've haven't been in Australia yet, but this shot brought back memories of "The Songlines" by Bruce Chatwin, a book that I enjoyed very much. I like the colors tones and the way you composed the shot.

nicely done Scott - this image unfolds after the initial attraction of strong shape/contrast. - the textures then reveal themselves. Always blows me away, and is strangely comforting when i see artistic reminders from millenia ago. thanx.

Jose,
Uluru is perhaps one of the most if not most important sight to the Aboriginal people of Australia. These writings/pictographs are, to the best of my knowledge, as authentic as they get, and are as they appear in real life. There was no retouching other then some sharpening and curves done to either of these two Uluru Photos. John, care to add more on Uluru?
