OK...I am here for the fourth time in three days to look at this photo again and again... I don't know if it's kosher to say it now, but this one is a clear winner for me :-).

I like this one, very pop art. :)

Thanks to all for the nice comments so far and thanks for reminding me, Ingo, that I forgot to put the caption on this version of the image, although you could also read it as the guilty party being me for shooting this fine lady's less than flattering photograph without her consent. She was in a public place though so I don't think there's a legal issue, but as others have also pointed out, not including her eyes also puts the emphasis on what I took the shot for, this following my practice of cropping out the clutter (unessential elements of a subject).

Cropped out the eyes to protect the guilty I see :-) Societal commentary for sure. Good work, Gordon.

Hi! Generally I don't like much these "selectively desaturated" pictures but this one really rocks... I like the composition, the idea of not including eyes to emphasize the act of eating. Really nice photo!

I like the way this is composed with the distracting eyes cropped out. well done.

Amusing picture indeed. Gluttony is the first word that comes to my mind when I look at this image. The red lips and tounge accentuates the lady's total focus on enjoying her ice cream. A glutton indeed...lol.

G'day, John. I had a lot of fun shooting this one. Actually, my wife was the one who talked me into shooting this woman. When I shoot candids such as this I try to make it look like I'm adjusting the camera while what I'm really doing is framing it; I then look away from both the camera and my intended victim...er...subject. In this case I watched her from the corner of my eye, waited for her to take the next bite, and hit the shutter (no lag at all - gotta love the A2). When I looked at the shot later on the computer I saw that she was actually looking right at the camera, but with total disinterest. Anyway...as to coloring the ice cream, I originally left it the natural color but found it distracting, so yes, best to think of it as vanilla. ;-)
Regards, Gordon

Hi Gordon,
It's approaching meal time and you're not making it any easier to sit here and run the world, oh that should be C9. ;o) Thanks for the lighthearted treatment of the theme. The framing works well. I think I would like to see the ice-cream in colour as well, or perhaps that is just me wanting it to be more real as I sit here getting hungry. Maybe it is vanilla, but I'm thinking yellow or blue would work nicely here, or even green. Now that would paint a picture!
Cheers, John
