From John down under:
Hi Paul,
Your effort here was an instant favourite of mine. Powerful yet understated. Simple and effective. I didn't leave enough time to attempt my sporting idea with watching a sporting replay on the TV and PhotoShopping myself into the action. Maybe I'll do it one day when the Minolta Challenge theme is Australian cricket victories! LOL
I hope you're thinking about what you want to do when you host C6. ;o) Sing out if you need a hand with anything, although Claudio is more qualified and Feri has lots of experience with all of that. :o) Are you going to let us start shooting before the Easter weekend is over so that we can get some shots in up front?
Cheers, John

I like this photo alot. Excellent idea! Too bad I didn't think of it. LOL. Actually after seeing this when I was shooting some skateboarders, I kept noticing and looking for interesting shadows. But I didn't want enter such a photo to look like I was being a copycat. The only thing I was thinking was that the photo would look even better if the racket was captured as it was just hitting the ground. Then I think it would be perfect!

Excellent picture and theme implementation. Looks like a "winner" picture :)

From Paul: thanks for your comments. I incorporated all of them in this new version. Hope it's an improvement.

Another inventive interpretation of the subject - I agree with Plamen that the sharpness could be improved - also the handle of the racket seems a bit blown out, so perhaps this is a tad over-exposed? Like the bright colour of the court though and the strong black shadow.

Absolutely great idea, but the picture needs some more sharpness IMO.

Yes, very joyous... and the absence of a wide spectrum of color keeps the focus on the figure. Nice composition.

Paul, I like the concept here, the composition and the graphic nature of the shot. Some post processing IMO, could make it even stronger. The dead leaves make tennis look out of season and distract from the graphic quality of your photo. I would clone them out. I would also do a levels or curve adjustment keeping the white lines white, but darkening everything else. I might even consider getting rid of the holes in the white lines, but maybe not. The point is the strength of this shot is it's graphic nature and I would do everything to maximize it.
