Hi Peter & Jackie , I lived in Vikramnagar during early years of my childhood. My father- Mr. K.N.Gupta worked in the heavy water plant & we lived in H3/1 house. We moved out of Vikramnagar I guess somewhere in 1983-84. I guess that wilderness of Vikramnagar was the best part of my life & childhood. I have kids now , yet the memories of Kota- RAPP township are still clear in my mind. back then camera & pics were a rare luxury, but your pics made those years come alive…almost in tears missing those years gone by. I studies in atomic energy school till 1982, but don’t remember which school it was (school no 2, 3, 4, since now there are so many) .. If anyone has any pics of school back then , please do share with me … …stay connected ..thanks

Hi Peter& Jackie

I stumbled across your page by chance and was very pleased to see you have much better pix than what the tour/hike organizers have!...great job with the pix and wonderful generosity indeed...
I am from Guyana and have been living in Toronto since 1975. I recently watched the Northface expedition (on Tv in High DEf) summited the prow of Roraima and was totally blown away!
I didn't think that it was possible for recreational hikers to reach the top, but it is !
this is definitely the hike of my life and will do it in 2012. I am an avid golfer and cyclist- I bicycle to work- about 16 mile round trip spring to fall...

it would be great if you would send me the high def picture: Roraima straight ahead...

I hope all the recent snow in London doesn't keep you grounded for too long :-)

Happy Holidays !
Looking forward to hearing from you soon...

Cheers!

Dear Peter,

This is amazing collection. You have no idea how knowingly or unknowingly you have touched the lives of so many of us who were born in Rawatbhata. It almost brought back my entire childhood. I was born in C4 quarters (1971), went to school in the Canadian school till 9th standard (1985)..used to take our bike and picnic in the ruins of bardoli..the evening walks to the Dam park...the chaos of Rawatbhata markets..everything is etched in...but it was good to see them all in pictures..

Thanks

Though lots of changes now.. I'll be going next year to see all my old friends.

Ashwini Kohli 24-Apr-2009 09:14
Dear Peter,
I can't thank you guys enough for those lovely photographs of RawatBhata.
The sleepy hamlet that you remember will always remain dear to me ,because I probably spent the happiest part of my life there. The swimming pool and the badminton courts were my favorite hangouts. The adventurous amongst us, went on to make a cricket pitch which then hosted many matches. I spent 8 years from 1979 to 1985 and went on to do my Engg. My Father being a Civil Engineer was one of the earliest people to get to RAPP and did a stint from 1963 to 1973 and came back again in 1979 to stay till 1987.The RawatBhata stories are a folklore in our household and so shall remain so.
Once again thanks for taking me down the memory lane.

What a refreshing site. Being a world traveler myself, your photos remind me of the past and coming voyages around the world. You are fascinating and I am glad to know that people like you let others, who cannot travel, share images like yours.

I googeled "Rawatbhata" - for the obvious reason that I spent some years there (my father still works there) - and I saw that you had posted quite a few pictures of the Township colony (there are many more colonies now). It was so nostalgic. Looking at your comments (and name), I guess you were one of the early settlers in RBT.

Hi,

I was pleasantly surprised to see Rawatbhata in your photos. The old ones are simply a treasure for somebody like me who was born in 1974 at Rawatbhata. I really love the place and feel a great sense of belonging to those who are associated with Rawatbhata.

I shared your photos with my father and mother and they were so excited to see the old Rawatbhata pictures, the town they got married in and started their family.

Thanks a Ton !

Dear Peter and Jackie,

Thank you so much for the awesome fotogallery of our tour in Bolivia. We hope that your website never disappears from the web, because one day we would like to download all the beautiful pictures you made. As you know: we didn't take a camera. Now we have seen your fotos we surely regret our choice for keeping the pictures in our hearts...
We are still travelling, at the moment we are in New Zealand but leaving soon for Australia. Like you did, we also went to Tongariro NP and saw YOUR NAMES in the hut-logbooks. You were there just a few days earlier!!! Our paths almost crossed a second time! Enjoy your travels. Till we meet again. Love,

Peter & Jackie,

I liked your photos and the presentation. Very intelligently done. One can see so much of the world right here on your galleries. Thank you.

PS. You are invited to visit Hunza on my galleries. It is one of those remote areas of the world that is not yet very well known.

Hola guys !!

What happened to your plan to visit Mexico and post pictures of it?
I remember there once was a thumbnail announcing that, and as a Mexico aficionado I was really looking forward to that.
As an appetizer for my next trip there you could say ...
Kind regards.

Karl

Thanks for sharing your far flung travels. I spent several hours pouring over the pictures. Especially enjoyed your pictures of Bolivia. Who'd have thought they'd make furniture from salt? Use what's handy, I guess.

Thanks, too, for your generosity of spirit in offering the photos for people's enjoyment. It's so tiresome to see beatiful photographs in others' galleries with names and copyrights plastered across them.

We thought Antarctica was spectacular, and that whatever followed would be an anti-climax, but Machu Picchu proved us wrong. What a place! ..... and what pictures!

Guys,
Thanks for putting the Potosí photo you took of me up - my friends will a least have one photo to look at now. There are some fantastic photos of South America in there, and it's a great idea what you've done, putting them up on the web.
