The Reptiles Come A-Caroling
A Cold eve in December after plenty of Bass,
I awoke from deep slumber by a tap on the glass.
I struggled to the window and was astounded to see
a tortoise and three gators singing carols to me.
They were hardly melodious, their voice not precise,
but should I expect more of reptilians on ice?
They sang Christmas carols, this strange little clan,
and proved that true spirit's not exclusive to man.
They sang about snowmen and red-nosed reindeer
and dancing nutcrackers that filled me with cheer.
Soon they were finished and disappeared out of sight
but left me with memories of this midwinter night.
I awoke the next morning, to a head that was pounding,
and looked around in the snow to prove the confounding.
I found not a trace, and I looked all about.
Did this really happen?, or was it the stout?
