The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is on the north shore of Oahu. The Center was created so that the students of Brigham Young University (Hawaii) could work their way through college by sharing their island heritage with visitors. The students come from an area covering about 12 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean. Additionally students from all other parts of the world also attend the University making a total of more than 60 countries that have students there. Many South Pacific nations are represented at the PCC ; Samoa, Aotearoa (Maori New Zealand), Fiji, Hawaii, Marquesas, Tahiti, Tonga, and Rapa Nui (Easter Island). There are island villages which give visitors a unique opportunity to learn about the customs of each island. The PCC is a unique treasure that was created to share with the world the cultures, diversity, and spirit of the nations of Polynesia.
