Aside from seeing a wonderfully diverse city/country, the wonderful thing about our visit to Singapore was the fact of meeting up with a friendly and warm group of pbase photographers. We were escorted around the city and shown both the "touristy" aspects and the local aspects. I feel as if I have an idea of what life in this beautiful place is like. I went into the trip with a collection of preconceived notions of life in this city. I had heard that it was regimented and "clean." While it was clean and I did run into some interesting restrictions, such as not taking pictures of any government building, even libraries, I found rather a city of diversity, beautiful new buildings and crowded run-down neighborhoods, urban commercial high rises and rural farm country. Most of all though I left with a sense of the warmth of the people I met. The pbasers we met were: Ai Li (www.pbase.com/limaili) Melvin ( www.pbase.com/1melvin) Jeremy ( www.pbase.com/jeremy101) Su Fan ( www.pbase.com/shadow2light) |
