I like the concept you had in mind for this portrait of this gritty photograher -- the dome of his hat rhythmically repeating the famed Half-Dome behind him. But I think you may have been able to strengthen the linkage somewhat by using a horizontal frame instead of this vertical, moving in closer to the photographer to stress the size of his hat by making it larger, and then moving the position of the hat so that it flows against the cloudy sky just to the right of Half-Dome. Each "dome" -- the hat and the rock -- would then show their curves against the sky, instead of merging into each other.
