Stafford Flint Furnace

Susquehanna State Park, Md

In this photo, I'm on the North bank of Deer Creek and looking southeast at the furnace's fire pit.
This furnace was built in 1750ties and is 30' tall; a dry powered flint was sent by canal to Trenton, N.J., where it was used to make porcelain pots, pans and china.
Best viewed in 'original' size.

An interesting example of old industrial architecture.
