I was on the uss essex in the persian gulf when the tsunami hit, and saw the devastation first hand, and just have one quick comment. I am sadened of the fact that the question of where the donations people where making were going. I know that everytime i have the opportunity to donate to relief efforts for these unfortionate people I do it, and the thought of how much is actually going to them has never crossed my mind. Im not saying that is a bad thing to think about, I do however feel that doing the right thing should never have if's or but's that need to be dealt with first. The faces on those people said it all, and it changed the way i will think about people affected by natural disasters of this magnitude for ever and always. Thank you to those of you who helped out. The autor of this site make really big, good job! Seriously! I think that maybe many people say the same words. The photos is whithout comments. I help them previously because in my town was organized - collect money for this poor people* (exactly in church). i don't know who's exact recieve money but i wish that my money are in good hands! These disaster show us what strong are nature-power. And of course God - power ;-) I hope that your'e understand me. I wish these people happines and lot good :-)

Did you remove some pictures?? There was a picture of my son handing supplies from a HC5 helicopter to a man, and now it is not there. The pictures are great, just feel bad his is not there anymore. Thanks

I have just found your web-site. I am personally tahnkfull for your sharing the pictures. As we are trying to assess the effects of tsunami on structures. These pictures will eventually be usefull for building tsunami-resistant structure in future since we can not prevent earthquake or tsunamis in the years to come. Thanks for sharing the fotos. And to those who would like to donate for the victims, or who already gave their donations. You don't have to worry or have any single doubts where the money you donated goes. I am not a member of any charity organizations or whatever but I do believe that the reason why the workers of different charity organizations are there are for them to help the needy people and not to corrupt the money being donated to them. A donation is a donation! it's not by force, or you are not being forced to give. Therefore, if you donate and then doubt those volunteered people who actually sacrifices their time and effort, then it is better not to donate and rather keep your money in your pocket. Donate with all your heart, and if any rate the money you donated are not spent where it should be spent, then they are not accountable to you but rather they're accountable to God.

I donated money but I have no idea what will happen to the funds and that troubles me. I heard that Sandra Bullock's ONE MILLION DOLLAR donation will be "clocked" fully, each penny scrap and that is awesome, I wish I could get mine "clocked" eventhough it is paltry but damn I hate to think that my hard earned cash might go to some Red Cross Employees pig-out at a diner or something :-((((( DONATING MONEY is good if one believes in the cause but there needs to be CASH accountability. Here in Brazil we are very sad with all that happened there. All the country is about to aid and send medicines, foods and clothes. In our city São José dos Campos- São Paulo the Lions CLub, Rotary Club and others are receiving donatives to aid the tsunami victms.

Amazing pictures of this tragedy. I have been to Indonesia and I like the people there a lot. I also created "The Clever Minkies" and if I could get a few thousand of the "plush" animlas to the kids there I would do it. But I would need help. The Minkies plush was made in the image of the "orangutans" that live on Sumatra / Borneo. I did this 5 years ago. I hope the world relief agencies can get the critical water / food / medicine / and clothing to all the people hurt by this Fast!
