When I got up before dawn I could see plenty of stars, but as I left home I noticed that the clouds started covering the sky. I kept on driving towards Chatham though, just in case, and as I got closer, when I pulled off Rte 6, I could see an opening. I still wasn't reassured that I'd get an interesting or clear dawn, I had been hoping for some sun on the sand further down South Beach. But when I arrived at the lighthouse I could see that the gathering clouds were likely to give me a beautiful glow.
The resulting shot has an interesting effect where the ripples in the sand appear to be echoed in the mackerel sky.
