Although I was aware of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe I had never seen this picture but on looking at it felt the same atmosphere as I felt whilst taking my photograph and I am most grateful to the anonomous "Guest" for drawing my attention to this picture.

"Riverdance Ferry" Driven onto Beach approx 2 miles from Blackpool centre and 200 yards from sea wall. Attempts to refloat at time of this photo had been unsuccessful and reports of Cargo on board varied from "Scrap metal and Lorries" to "Goods for Marks and Spencers".

PS
The Riverdance Ferry was never re floated and was eventually broken up and removed from the beach piece by piece.

These two are called "Penny Black" two of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet and

This and the next eleven pics were all taken on the Fiji finepix f20 as a comparison to the same(more or less)pictures taken on the Nikon D70 with 18mm to 70 lens which follow. I found the result to be very surprising as the f20 more than held it's own and this test was a large factor in my selling the Nikon shortly afterwards.

The white van was parked by the jetty and as the tide was coming in there were several people watching to see what would happen, about five to ten minutes before the sea reached the jetty a person appeared,got in,and casually drove away!.........the general feeling of disappointment was almost tangible!!

The Building on the corner with the Blue shutters is on what used to be known as Woolworths Corner, Woolworths now long gone.
