Hi Louis,

I received your msg in my HS10 review website.

"1. What modes/settings are required to take good shots of my dogs running and playing, and also of running water? "
For dogs running and playing, I recommend shoot at jpg with continuous shooting mode. HS10 can capture 7 frames in a speed of 10fps, which is very good in freezing the precious moments.
For running water, it may depend on what you want. If you want to freeze water drops, use S mode and adjust a fast shutter; if you want to record the water motion, use S mode and adjust a slow shutter. See samples here:http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/hs10_shutter_speed_test

"2. How do you choose whether the object at the front of the frame is clear and the background blurred or the other way round, i.e the object at the front blurred and the background clear? "
Again, it relates to the theme you want. Something clear means it would be the theme in the picture. Depending on different theme, you can select different clear background / foreground. See samples here:http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/hs10_bokeh_samples
My suggestion is that you can take two photos in the same scene, one with clear background while the other one with clear foreground. Replay the two pictures in the computer (due to larger display area) and select the one you like.

Hope this may help.

Hi Jacky,

Awesome photos and excellent review of the HS10.
I have a few questions if i may.
1. What modes/settings are required to take good shots of my dogs running and playing, and also of running water?
2. How do you choose whether the object at the front of the frame is clear and the background blurred or the other way round, i.e the object at the front blurred and the background clear?

Thanks,

Louis

Hi Jacky, i'm Arin. Thanks for your awesome photos. I have one question about your photos in tele mode.

In Tele:http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/image/124995498
http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/image/123616582
Bokeh Sample:http://www.pbase.com/middlehill/image/124364972

Whats your selected focus mode in this photo? Single or Continues ? Can you explain more details about your camera focus settings when you want capture tele, close-up and blurred(bokeh) photos?

Thank's again :X :)

Your FujiFilm HS10 gallery shows that you are a better photographer than most of the people who have written reviews for the camera! Your use of ISO 3200 for capturing stills of bird movements impressed me.

You're great images have convinced me to buy a HS10 myself :-)

Hi Jacky
Very impressive pics of the new Fuji HS10/11 Camera - I am beginning to believe that this Camera will be the #1 choice of 2010 SuperZooms. I am thinking of buing it, when I have read some reviews. The ISO800 and above pics. looked beautiful - did you notice how high the Noiselevel was ? (quite hard to see cause the pics are "too small").
Regards, Claus, Denmark.

Absolutely fantastic of your image of "Sai Kung - Tai Long Sai Wan",I use to think of the image as the Chinese salty vitellus. I saw it at the Taiwanese A-Li mountain and somewhere in Italy, Swiss, France and Germany.

Hello Jacky, I enjoy your candid shots very much. Can you tell me how you go about taking most of them. Do you ask the person if you can take their photo, or do you just take a quick shot then keep moving?

I'm wanting to do more candids but I don't know how to approach most of the people I see and would like to photograph.

Dear Hygog,

Thank you for your appreciation.
Hygog 26-Mar-2006 07:04
Hi, your black and white photo are very great, especially the MaWan Shan series, I like it so much, great composition, although it is a bit to too "hard" on texture for my own favour, but it is your photo, it is your choice. I think Your black and white photos are much better then the colors one, those BW got so much stronger in personal style and unique.

And the Daily series, the Sindy's performance is so REAL, it just like you are capturing her life for days, she did a good job on faking a real day.

Anyway, come to my site if u are interested.
