Toronto Painted Black & White

I love B&W. For some reasons when I shoot Toronto, it much more appealing to me when
exposed in B&W. Probably because of much more pronounced forms and shapes. I can't say Toronto is a
colorful city. It has some colors and they are pleasing, but for me its real beauty is much stronger
when I visualize it in Black and White.

So here it is. Please take a look, leave a comment or critique.

I am absosutely bowled over by this collection. I would dearly like to see the EXIF data and the post processing work flow you used. I loved absolutely every picture from start to finish. Quite honestly, I was very proud of my urban gallery - but this has brought me down to earth. Huge vote Michael - I can't say enough to praise it!!

I have been to Toronto numerous times. I was there when they opened the sky dome. This gallery brings back some wonderful memories. You have captured it perfectly. I love that you chose to do it in black and white. Thanks for sharing these image with the rest of us.

Thanks for pointing me at this work. I can understand this feeling for BW more suitable for a familiar subject. As one said liife is in color but BW is more realistic. I would rather say fidel by myself. Fidel as dog: adog seing you in BW. Anyway, reality is something you are sensible to when you try to describe something familiar! v

Good work, very inspirational in an artistic as well as technical sense. Although at first I had some difficulty taking in the bold B&W rendering, I now appreciate your very consistent processing and clearly see the value for these urban architecture images. I wonder though if the dynamic range in all these images was produced using bracketing and HDR?

Your b and w's are superb. Great tonal range and composition. You feel that thought went into it instead of just some random event. They are alive. Have you ever shot bw film. I've posted at sample of my old bw's of years gone by athttp://www.pbase.com/pajamacat/black_and__whites. These were old negs that I scanned on a high end Scitex scanner and Photoshopped them to my liking. Seems they have a certain look and feel that can't be replicated with a dslr. But anyhow keep up the good work PS. My favorite is the one with the 7 pillars and the light shining through.
