Great idea & a nice composition. On my monitor the inside of the cut onion is completely blown out. I have noticed that some detail gets lost when I convert good images to jpegs. Then when I view them on the web areas can be blown out. I assume that is what happened here. My nik pic is that the bright spot on the end of the knife on the right edge distracts my eyes from the centeral subject of the image. Maybe you could tone it down or take it out for a more stronger photo.
