These are the photographs I took during a fantastic 2 week trip to eastern Venezuela. I went with Chris Sloan, Clyde Blum, Melinda Welton, and John Noel. We had the superb services of David Ascanio http://www.ascaniobirding.com/ for all but the last day or so, which we spent with Daniel Mueller. David is one of the top guides for northern South America, Venezuela in particular, and his knowledge is encyclopedic in nature. His ear has to be experienced to be believed! David usually co-leads all VENT tours to Venezuela. He has also been involved with the discovery of more than one bird, and with the splitting of several species.

We birded the Tepui/Gran Sabana region of southeast Venezuela, one of the highest area of endemism on the continent, of which we saw a very high percentage. We also birded the Imitaca region, famous for it's Harpy Eagles and other Guianan specialties. Other areas were the Paria Peninsula, the Caripe area, the lower Orinoco delta, La Vuelta Larga, and some general coastal birding. Out trip total was nearly 550 species, 3 of which don't even have names yet!

Everyone got lots of photos, the best of which Chris will combine into a website featuring some of everyone's shots. Chris and Clyde did especially well, with their razor-sharp 400mm Canon IS lenses. My digiscoping rig came in handy some, but overall I was out-gunned in the camera department!
