This male is one of a pair I spotted in a wet field, north of Reelfoot Lake. These birds are typically found in the big hardwood bottoms, and are more often heard than seen. They do on occasion come out to feed in plain view. It is always a neat sight to see a Woodie out on open water with a group of divers, such as Ruddies or Bufflehead. Always something out there to remind you that you never know what to expect.
