Though huge birds, Snowcocks blend in supremely with their rocky alpine environment. These photos are from close to 1/4 mile away, and they would often disappear in the scope even though you knew exactly where they were.
Four at once was the most I ever saw at one time, I do think we had more than 4 on the large cliff face above Island Lake. Some friends in another group had at least 8 here a few days after our visit.
