Comet Lulin - 1 March 2009

The comet was moving rapidly through Leo. I had to take a series of short exposures, guided on a nearby star, and then combine them in DeepSkyStacker. As the comet moved from one frame to the next, the stars appear as trails broken up by the different frames.

Canon EOS 40D ,Pentacon 300mm f4
15 x 2 minute exposures at f4, ISO 1600. Camera piggybacked on a telescope for guiding. Images registered on the comet and stacked using DeepSkyStacker. hide exif
