The Owl nebula, M97, in Ursa Major

This is a 'planetary nebula', not related to planets but formed when a star blows off shells of gas that then expand around it.

Modified EOS 600D,Celestron C8 telescope
Manually, off-axis guided for 9 x 10-minute exposures at ISO 1600, f/6.3. This image replaces an earlier attempt at the same object.
Registered and stacked using DeepSkyStacker software; noise reduced using Noel Carboni's tools in Photoshop Elements; curves adjusted using Paint Shop Pro. full exif
