Bauchaille Moods

Glencoe, Scotland

Glencoe revisited almost a year to the exact date

The Bauchaille falls have been photographed thousands of times and a remain a well known Scottish location
I was determined to try and get an alternative angle from the traditional picture perfect spot, which is to the left
The heavy sky added drama and the small orange coloured plant was a fabulous spot of colour on the bleak landscape
There was an added bonus when a patch of luminous sky opened up and I metered for the highlights
The low key outcome gave a great sense of bleak, doom ... almost Lord of the Rings country!

I was in two minds about this. However having returned to it several times, its gets my vote. It is a slightly different and an interesting angle on this much frequented location. The composition holds together well. The highlights from the waterfall are picked up in the sky and the splash of orange provides an anchor point. I love the light on the leaves at the centre foreground as a way into the image. I wondered though about the grasses and bare ground to the right. Are they slightly too prominent and might they be darkened slightly? But overall it's a cracker.

An encyclopedia of expertly captured lighting values all encompassed within a fascinating composition. Those vivid orange flowers and the perfectly blurred water are the highlights. ~BV~

You have achieved your aim, this is magnificent with the light contrast in the sky, the small water fall and even the orange on the sprig of bracken and indeed the Mt being in shade, are some of the many attributes of this image

The light does make the scene dramatic! I thought I recognised this popular spot .... but it is different from this angle.
