I’m going to start posting a series of photos taken over a two-week period at the Bloomsburg Fair 2009 near my home in central Pennsylvania. I shot many hundreds of pictures and I’ve just started whittling the numbers down to a reasonable sized group. The first week was spent shooting the set up of the fair, which is one of the largest in the country. My emphasis was to meet and get to know the carnival workers and take as many portraits as I could. Carnies as they are called are a fascinating group of people and I will share some of the more interesting ones with you here in the next few weeks. I also shot a lot of other kinds of things I will mix them in as well. I was lucky this year to have been given a press pass from a journal that is published at my former university as I do supply them photos from time to time. The pass was a great help getting into events and places where it might have been difficult otherwise. I hope you enjoy the pictures half as much as I had taking them.
