I’m just back from a three-day trip to Old Order Amish country near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This was the area first settled by the Amish when they arrived from Europe and still has one of the largest Amish and Mennonite populations in the U.S. I went there with my camera to search for, and to learn about the commercialization of the Amish culture by tourism. I really had an amazing three days and shot a lot of photos, which I’m sure, will take me months to sort out and make sense of. The region was in full summer tourist chaos and the Amish farmers were hard at work during this peak-farming season. The contrast between the tourists and farmers was amazing. I’m looking forward to sharing this new project with you here later.
