I was driving around central Pennsylvania as I often do looking for photo opportunities, and I saw Ethel outside working in her yard. I waved and she smiled back. That smile was wonderful! I pulled over and introduced myself, and we chatted a while. Later on I asked if she would mind a photo, and here it is. Sometimes it’s hard to ask someone to allow a photo. A fine line for sure. For me it’s intuitive at the time, to see a person and ask permission to take a photo. It’s only later upon reflection that I question my process. In retrospect it’s unnerving, but looking back at this photo of Ethel I know it’s really worth it, if only to jog my memory of a new acquaintance, and a pleasant moment. It’s also nice to share these images with new friends here. Thanks Ethel. BTW….Ethel happens to be my mother’s name.
