The original “Götheborg" ran aground at the entrance to Göteborg on 12 September 1745. The ship was laden with tea, porcelain, silk and spices, and had almost reached dock after her third voyage to China. In 1993 reconstruction project was launched. In June 1995 the keel was laid down, the frames were assembled in 1996-1998, and the hull began to take shape. The launch took place on 6 June 2003. In 2005 the ship went on a tour to China.
